Reporting a calculation error

This is the most useful feedback we can get. To reproduce a case we need four things:

  1. the share link produced by the calculator, which encodes every input in the URL — or failing that, your base rate of pay and whether it is weekly, fortnightly or annual, your years of continuous service, to one decimal place, your state or territory and the accrued annual leave and long service leave balances you entered;
  2. the figure you expected;
  3. where that figure comes from, ideally the Fair Work Ombudsman, a decision letter or a payslip;
  4. the year concerned.

Any confirmed discrepancy above one per cent is treated as a defect: we fix the data, extend the reference cases so the same error cannot return, and record the correction in our editorial policy. What the tool does and deliberately does not cover is set out in the methodology.

Press and newsrooms

We produce extracts from our dataset on request, as CSV where that helps — distributions, thresholds and year-on-year changes. Please tell us the outlet, the topic and your deadline.

Embedding the calculator

The calculator can be embedded free of charge in an iframe on your own site, which HR teams, employment lawyers and advice services do regularly. The embed code and the terms of use are on the widget page.

What we do not do

We give no individual legal, tax or financial advice and cannot review a claim or a decision. Questions about your own entitlement belong with the Fair Work Commission, or with a qualified adviser. We cannot intervene in a decision, appeal on your behalf, or tell you what the Fair Work Commission will decide.

Response times

We normally reply within five working days, and prioritise reports of calculation errors. Independently of that, every dataset is reviewed at least every 12 months.
