Editorial and corrections policy
People usually open this site in the week a job ends, holding a separation letter and wondering whether the payout is right. That is the standard we hold the figures to, and the rules below say how they are chosen, kept current and corrected.

A number seen on another calculator, in a newspaper or on a law firm blog is never enough on its own: it goes into the data only once we have found it in one of these publications.
How the data is kept
The 2026–27 parameters are stored in one file, stamped with the financial year, the dates it applies to (2026-07-01 to 2027-06-30), the day the sources were last read (2026-10-01) and the address of each source page. The calculator and the guides read their figures from that file, so a corrected threshold changes everywhere at once. The calculation engine is covered by automated tests built on worked examples, described in the methodology.
Review calendar
The whole file is checked against its sources at least every 12 months. Outside that cycle, a change announced by the ATO or the Fair Work Ombudsman, a new financial year on 1 July or an amendment to a state long service leave Act triggers a review of the affected values. The date shown on each page is the date the site content was last revised.
When we get something wrong
A reported error is first compared with the official text. If the report holds up, we change the parameter or the code, add the reader’s case to the tests, and update the date on the pages concerned. When a published result was materially wrong, the page says what changed instead of being quietly overwritten, and we do not remove a page to make a mistake disappear.
Money and independence
The site is free. Pages may contain advertising spaces, always placed below the calculator; advertisers have no say over a figure or over the order of anything we publish. We do not sell contact details, refer readers to lawyers or lenders, or accept payment to mention anyone. Any commercial relationship with an organisation named on the site would be disclosed next to the mention.
Limits of an estimate
The calculator applies the statutory minimums. It is not a ruling of the Fair Work Commission or advice about your situation, and an award or agreement may entitle you to more. The cases it leaves out are listed in the methodology.
