What this site is — and what it is not

This site provides free calculators for final pay, redundancy and long service leave, together with explanatory guides. Results are estimates based on the Fair Work Act 2009 and the National Employment Standards, the long service leave Act of each state and territory, and the Australian Taxation Office rates for employment termination payments. They are not legal, tax or financial advice, and they do not take the place of an award, an enterprise agreement or a contract of employment, which may give you more. This site is independent and is not affiliated with the Fair Work Ombudsman, the Fair Work Commission or the ATO. What the tools cover and deliberately do not cover is set out in our methodology.

Accuracy and liability

We update the parameters at every change and test the calculators against reference cases, but we do not warrant that they are error-free or complete. Entitlements vary with the applicable award or agreement, and some situations — casual conversion, transfer of business, small business redundancy, terminations for serious misconduct — follow rules the calculators do not apply. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from reliance on an estimate or from any interruption of the service, and the site is provided "as is". Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page; our correction process is in the editorial policy.

The text, design, compiled data and source code of this site are protected under the Copyright Act 1968 and remain the property of the publisher. Reproduction or reuse without permission is prohibited, except for short quotations with a link to the source page. Legislation and government data are reproduced on the terms set by the bodies that publish them.

You may embed a calculator free of charge in an iframe on your own site, provided the visible credit link back to this site remains and nothing suggests the tool is an official government service. The snippet and the conditions are on the widget page.
